Patna, Oct 14 (UNI) The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today unveiled its first list of 71 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
A surprise exclusion is seasoned leader and Bihar Assembly Speaker Nand Kishor Yadav who is the sitting MLA from Patna Sahib.
BJP National General Secretary and Headquarters In-Charge Arun Singh released the list which includes several prominent leaders and ministers from the current Bihar government, reflecting the party’s strategy to balance experience, regional representation, and caste equations ahead of the polls.
Among those named in the first list are Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with senior leaders Tarkishore Prasad, Renu Devi, Prem Kumar, Mangal Pandey, Krishna Kumar Rishi, Ram Narayan Mandal and Nitin Nabin.
Meanwhile party insiders said that the party’s selection process reflects its commitment to “strong leadership, good governance, and the vision of a developed Bihar under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.”
Party insiders said the list includes both sitting MLAs and new faces, signaling a mix of continuity and change. While several ministers have retained their constituencies, the inclusion of young and first-time candidates suggests the BJP’s attempt to inject fresh energy into its campaign.
The BJP, contesting the elections as part of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), is expected to release more lists in the next few days.
